For counselors
Licensed in North Carolina? Help teens when it counts.
Haven is looking for licensed North Carolina counselors for early testing. Go on duty when you choose, take SOS calls and scheduled sessions, and keep private notes.
Who can apply
Haven serves teens in North Carolina, and counseling is regulated where the client is. Counselors must hold an active North Carolina license, for example:
- Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC)
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS)
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
Associate-level licensees (such as LCMHCA) may only practice under supervision and would need a qualifying supervisor.
What we'll ask
- Your name, license type and license number
- Your specialties (for example teens, anxiety, substance use)
- A background check, as part of approval
An admin checks every license against the licensing board's public lookup before you can go on duty. Your status shows as pending until then.
The in-app application is part of the prototype. For now, apply by email and we'll reply with next steps.

How a shift works
- Go on dutyFlip the on-duty switch when you're available. Off duty means no alerts.
- An SOS arrivesEvery on-duty counselor is alerted at once, with the teen's first name and age.
- Tap AcceptThe first counselor to accept takes the call. Everyone else sees that it was taken.
- Talk, then add a private noteNotes stay private. Parents see only that a session happened, when, and how long.
What isn't decided yet
How counselors are engaged and paid, and the exact on-call expectations, are still being worked out. We'll be upfront about them before anyone commits.
