About Haven

Why we are building Haven

A counseling and safety app for North Carolina teens and their families.

Our mission

Make it simple and safe for North Carolina teens to reach a licensed counselor, with a parent in the loop and SOS that is always free.

Our vision

A North Carolina where no teen has to face a hard moment alone, and every family knows where to turn.

Our core values

  • Safety first

SOS is always free. It never sits behind a paywall, and if no counselor can answer, Haven puts 988 and 911 on the screen right away.

  • Licensed counselors

Only counselors with an active North Carolina license, checked against the state board's public lookup before they can take calls.

  • Teen privacy, with parents involved

A parent sets Haven up and signs consent. Parents see the date, time and length of a session, never what was said. The one exception is safety: counselors follow North Carolina's rules if someone is in danger.

  • Honest and plain

Clear words, planned prices stated up front, and no ads, cookies or tracking on this website. Haven says plainly that it is an early prototype and not an emergency service.

  • Open to everyone

Big buttons, plain language and screen-reader labels in the app, and a free North Carolina help directory that anyone can use without signing up.

Haven is an early prototype built by Edmond Davis. It is not an emergency service. Call 911 in an emergency, or call or text 988 for crisis support.
